I have been using the Shellac since May and LOVE it. My question is: I am now having just a few of my ladies with peeling problems and have never had this before. They have been usiing their solar oil, no difference in my prep(been doing nails for 15 years). is there any problem with long term use (we soak off every 2-3 weeks) the nails are not to dry, some peeling on the free edge of the nails.
Has there been any changes in the product or any ‘bad’ batches?

    • Christine,

There have not been any changes to Shellac. Where do you live? Has your climate changed. Sometimes in the winter months clients may need to use more solar oil due to the dryness from climate changes. Also check to see if your clients nails are peeling. How are the hours on your lamps?

      Thank you

  32. Hi
I was wondering if you could apply two coats of Shellac Top Coat. I haven’t tried it yet. After reading all the blogs I just wondered if it would give longer wear time. I have had all the problems listed but resolved them after reading all the tips. I still have some wrinkling from time to time but realize I probably applied it to thick.

    • Heidi,

Yes you can apply 2 coats of Shellac Top Coat. Just keep in mind that there may be a slightly longer time in removal as the acetone will need to penetrate 2 top coats and the color layers to get to the quick release polymers in the base coat. There won’t be a “significant” change in time, maybe just a few extra minutes.

      Thank you
      CND

  34. I have been a manicurist & a very successful one, for 20 years. I see on the average 50/55 clients in a week. WOW… I am blown away…this is amazing. I have been waiting 6 months & finally received my product 3 weeks ago. Love, love, love it. I am however having difficulty w/ the thickness of the top coat a just a few colors, no matter how much I shake them. This is frustrating & slows me down. I am not use to being behind schedule & can’t continue this process if this continues to be the case. I am afraid I may start to loose clients as I continue to fight w/ the Shellac & fall behind schedule. In short…can you fix the “thickness issue”?

    • Charolotte,

We would ask you to contact our hotline as soon as possible to document your concerns. This is the way CND tracks and researches quality.
The CND hotline number is 800-833-NAIL (6245)

      Thank you for your concern.

  35. Can I swim daily in my indoor Y pool without harm to my Shellac nail

    • Dear Dry Nails,

Shellac is formulated with Acetone Soluble Polymers (tiny tunnels) making it removable in 10 minutes with pure acetone. These tiny tunnels allow the acetone to travel all the way down through the coating and finally down to the base layer where the acetone breaks down the “quick-release” polymers releasing Shellac from the natural nail without the use of files or buffers which can be extremely damaging to the natural nail.

These tiny tunnels also make Shellac less chemically resistant than gels, liquid & powders or other enhancement products. Thus exposure to household chemicals including chlorine can affect Shellac wear. Clients that regularly swim or soak in Jacuzzis may not experience 14+ day wear with Shellac. However they should experience longer wear with Shellac than polish.

      Thank you
      CND

  38. My clients & I LOVE the Shellac! I recently discovered that other salons in my area are advertising that they offer the Shellac service, so when i was sick, one of my stylists went there…It WAS NOT Shellac. They had tips to show the color and she asked to see the bottles because they looked terrible and the colors were not the same. To her suprise it wasnt Shellac at all, she walked out of the salon. This just isnt right, wish something could be done.

    • Sheila,

Unfortunately there are some salons out there that are deceptive. It is important to educate clients on what questions to ask when booking appointments. The more the consumer knows the more responsible they become.

      Thank you

I too have requested through the website twice. December 16 and December 29. I have emailed and called and both times was only informed to go to the registry and it would be added in 7 days. NOTHING. What more can I do???? This is horrible.

    • Fonda,

You have to fill in all the areas for it to post to the website. We did some checking and the Salon Name field was missing. Try again and let us know if it works.

      Thank you
      CND

  41. Ok, I have also tried twice to get on the registry and got nothing. Just entered info again. Hope it works this time!

  42. Fonda Beckham says:

It must just be missing on your end because I entereed it because it is a required field. I also get an email from the registry each time I do it so I think it might be a breakdown on your end. I will do it again though.
