Q&A #2 Why are a few of my Shellac clients peeling?

Top Question #2

Q: Why is Shellac peeling on some of my clients?

A: Proper Preparation, Application, Curing, Home Maintenance

1. Preparation

  • The first step is to make sure you are doing proper P.E.P.

P.E.P. includes

  • P-erform Mini Manicure = Removing the Cuticle off the nail plate
  • E-liminate Surface Contaminants = ScrubFresh
  • P-Purify Nail Plate = ScrubFresh

Note: If your client experiences natural nail delamination (peeling)…

Lightly buff the area with a 240 grit or higher buffer. If there is excessive delamination discontinue the service until the nail grow out (thus avoiding damaging the natural nail with too much buffing).

“Please refer to the Shellac Step-by-Step directions for detailed P.E.P., application and removal techniques”

2. Application - Thin is best!!!

  • SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE the bottle of Shellac
  • With each layer of Shellac, apply it thin.
  • Keep a tiny free margin around the cuticle and sidewall areas.
  • Cap the extension edge with each layer of Shellac

3. Curing

  • Stick with the system - Use the CND UV Lamp
  • Cure each layer
  • Base Coat = 10 sec
  • Color Coat = 2 min
  • Top Coat = 2 min

4. Home Maintenance

  • Solar Oil -Keeps natural nails, nail color and nail enhancements tough and flexible. Use daily!

Everyone WANTS Shellac

The word is out on the street. Everyone WANTS Shellac the way they want a limited edition Birkin bag. You know, clawing, begging, pleading, howling at the moon, chewing the bark off trees. The women of America are obsessed with this new product, thanks to fantastic initial media and PR, and we like that.

So, availability and access to the service are crucial, especially right now while Shellac buzz is new and superhot.  That’s why we want every one of the industry’s top Nail Professionals in our database, so new clients can find you! MORE

The founder and owner of Premiere (Howard Britt) is a good friend of CND and he cares so passionately about the profession. That’s why this show is always the best of the best, just packed-to-bursting with valuable content and education.  MORE

Heading to Sydney

…it’s time to leave Auckland…I’m going to miss this place, especially my good friends at Creative New Zealand:   Aimee and team!  TJ and I pack things up and head to the airport…it’s crazy how the luggage seems to have expanded since arriving. Must have something to do with the universe expanding. Note to self: call Stephen Hawking, double-check this theory.

The flight to Sydney is just under 4 hours.  I’m anxious to get a little work done on the plane…I sit down in seat 2B, and the flight attendant advises me that it’s ‘Rex’s’ birthday today (the man in seat 2A), so I’m obliged to share a glass of champagne with him! MORE

Shellac: Get Your Clients Back

Today, I start at the crack-o-dawn with a TV interview with ‘Campbell Live’, a popular 20/20 type show.  We talk safety, standards and Shellac!

Then 18 Beauty Editors arrive to hear about Shellac for the first time.  They ALL get Shellac’d and CAN NOT believe what they see!  Blogs start posting within hours of the event.

50 Nail Professionals then arrive….it dawns on me that to see Shellac is to know this is a service that will get the 85% of the women who currently do not go to a salon for  mani’s and pedi’s, BACK! MORE

Anzac Day

Yep…worked beautifully…had a full 7 hours sleep and feel refreshed upon awakening.

Today is Anzac Daylike our Memorial Day in the US.  I’m very impressed by the youth of this country who all seem engaged and excited to view the parades and honor their brave armed forces on this day.  Everyone waves flags and listens to stories told by their fathers and other elders who fought to defend Istanbul and defeat the Ottoman Empire in World War I. I’m inspired!  So, I walk up to the Auckland Museum to learn more.  Hours later, I’ve taken in a great history lesson about the first people to land in New Zealand 35,000 years ago…the Maori people.
